Lot Essay

The present painting, executed in 1809, was exhibited in the Salon of 1810. Although few works by this artist are known today, she is recorded as a painter of mythological and historical subjects influenced by her tutor, Gioacchin Giuseppe Serangeli, himself a pupil of Jacques Louis David.
