21st Century Evening Sale

21st Century Evening Sale

À propos de la vente

New York’s 21st Century Evening Sale is the most enthralling event on Christie’s global auction calendar. Presenting masterworks from the 1960s to the present, the sale reflects the seismic shifts that have shaped the artistic landscape of this period. Celebrated blue-chip artists appear alongside today’s emerging creators, vividly capturing the art of our generation — where we are, how we got here and where we’re going next.

This season, the evening will launch with The Collection of Antonio Homem Sonnabend, an extraordinary selection of paintings, sculpture and design shaped by a lifetime devoted to the art and artists who defined their generations. From Roy Lichtenstein, Jasper Johns and Andy Warhol to Jeff Koons and Robert Rauschenberg, the collection traces Antonio's remarkable stewardship of contemporary art, his life's work with Sonnabend Gallery, and his relationship with visionary co-founder Ileana Sonnabend, whose instinct, curiosity and conviction made her one of the defining figures of post-war and contemporary art. Across decades and continents, Antonio, Ileana and Sonnabend Gallery championed artists who challenged convention and reshaped contemporary art. The Collection of Antonio Homem Sonnabend will continue with further sales of art and design at Christie’s throughout 2026 and 2027.
