Beyond Ordinary - Then. Now. Next. Works from the Zabludowicz Collection

Sale Overview

Christie’s presents Beyond Ordinary – Then. Now. Next. Works from the Zabludowicz Collection as a highlight of its London Summer Season at King Street. For three decades, the Zabludowicz Collection has been a pioneering force in contemporary art. Founded in 1994 at a transformative moment in the British art scene, it quickly became known for its passionate support of young and emerging artists. Its north London non‑profit project space, established in 2007, operated a trailblazing exhibition programme, championing artists at pivotal moments in their careers and introducing significant international talent to UK audiences.

Almost entirely fresh to the auction market, with many works acquired shortly after their creation, the group captures some of the key pillars that have come to define the Zabludowicz Collection. From a rare early butterfly painting by Damien Hirst to works by Philip Guston and Richard Prince, the selection bears witness to the cultural landscapes that have shaped the collection.

Historically underrepresented voices sit alongside artists working at the cutting edge of new technology and media. The collection’s embrace of ambitious sculpture is embodied in works by Yoshitomo Nara; elsewhere, the selection celebrates Albert Oehlen’s revitalisation of painting and the depth of his legacy in the 21st century. Meanwhile, works by Henry TaylorHurvin AndersonRose Wylie and Lubaina Himid demonstrate the collection’s longstanding support for artists now firmly established on the global stage.
