Strong Results Achieved with a Combined Total over RMB 148 Million

Christie’s held its seventh year of Shanghai sales on 21 September achieving a combined total of RMB 148,304,400. The series of three sales, curated in collaboration with our international specialists, feature a broad mix of Chinese and Western works and collectibles, attaining a remarkable 96% combined sell-through rate.

Voie Lactée – 09.11.1956 by Zao Wou-Ki became the most expensive work of art to be sold in Christie’s Shanghai when it realised RMB 56,400,000 in the evening sale, which saw an outstanding 97% sell-through rate.

Our second sale dedicated exclusively to Moutai was also enthusiastically received, realising a total of RMB 14,784,000 with 96% sold by lot. The top lot of the sale was 12 bottles of FeiTian MAOTAI 1977, which sold for RMB 960,000.

FIRST OPEN | Shanghai: Living with Art returned for another successful season, achieving RMB 9,404,400 and a sell-through rate of 96%. The top lot of the sale was NO REPLY by KAWS which sold for RMB 864,000.
