Our 20/21 Design sale presents a superb selection of animal sculptures by Bugatti, Pompon, Guyot and Lalanne. A giraffe, a swan and a polar bear by Pompon are offered alongside a ‘Tigresse jouant’. Dated 1925, this rare model, never before seen at auction, is one of only four known editions. Three ‘Pélicans’ by Rembrandt Bugatti, circa 1904, will also be presented alongside an exceptional ‘Panthère à l'affût’. Completing this elegant bestiary are sculptures by François-Xavier and Claude Lalanne, a ‘Grenouilles’ side table by Diego Giacometti and two exceptional works by Paul Jouve: ‘Eléphant aux cornacs’ and ‘Deux jeunes tigres se caressant’. An important private collection belonging to a couple close to the Bernheims, distinguished clients of Pierre Chareau, will also be presented. A superb dressing cabinet which has remained in the same family for many years is a highlight of the group. The section dedicated to 1950s design features a dining table by Jean Prouvé, a Charlotte Perriand bookcase, lighting by Serge Mouille and Boris Lacroix, ceramics by Denise Gatard, Georges Jouve and Jacques and Dani Ruelland, and a unique coffee table by Roger Capron.
