20th/21st Century: London Evening Sale

20th/21st Century: London Evening Sale

Sale Overview

Following our highly-successful June season, Christie’s London will host its 20th / 21st Century Evening Sale during Frieze Week on 13 October 2022.

Led by David Hockney’s Early Morning, Sainte-Maxime (1969), a masterful study of light appearing for the first time at auction in more than 30 years, the sale unites major post-war artists with some of today’s leading international contemporary painters. A rich dialogue between generations and continents unfolds across the auction: from Yayoi Kusama and Kim Tschang-Yeul in Asia, to Rashid Johnson, Stanley Whitney, Dana Schutz and Christina Quarles in America. The sale’s strong selection of British art is complemented by vibrant European highlights, including works by Lucio Fontana, Luc Tuymans, Martial Raysse and A. R. Penck.

If you would like a work from your collection to be a part of another record-breaking season at Christie’s, then please do not hesitate to contact us.
