The Christie’s Paris Evening sale will take place this year with a new format and will be auctioned together with the London 20/21st Century Evening sale in a stream live auction happening at the same time in Paris, London, New York and Hong Kong. In this fantastic international context, we will be pleased to offer a curated selection of works that will emphasize the unique strength of the Parisian art scene of the Post-War and Contemporary art period. The sale will include some of the most important names of this period such as Pierre Soulages, Jean Dubuffet or Zao Wou Ki and is still open for consignments.

Head of Evening Sale | Post-War & Contemporary Art

With a background in Law, History and History of Art, Etienne received a master’s degree in Art Market from Sorbonne University and he’s fluent in French and English. He first joined Christie’s in 2012 and has been responsible for the day sales for five years from 2015. Since February 2020, Etienne has been appointed Head of Evening sales in Paris.

Etienne has achieved exceptional results for important modern and contemporary artists both in France and globally. Etienne was involved in key consignments including an Alexander Calder mobile from the Agnès Varda Collection, sold for US$2,592,126, and a large-scale painting by Jean Paul Riopelle, La Promenade, which, at US$1,241,165, established a record for a 1960’s work by the artist. Recently, Etienne helped to secure an important Nicolas de Staël’s painting, Bouteilles (1952), which achieved in London US$ 5.942.472 last year.

Combining his academic pursuits in art and his market knowledge, Etienne has contributed to several Private Sales exhibitions, including Un art autre (artistes autour de Michel Tapié) in 2012, Voir Paris : Une aventure chinoise in 2017, Soulages / Hartung in 2018 and this year Into the fold putting together international artists like Manzoni, Hantaï, Parrino, Stingel, Gilliam or César.
