The October Antiquities sale at King Street showcases a unique selection of ancient art, encapsulating the origins of artistic expression. Highlights include a rare Roman Late Republican marble portrait of a man, and  Roman marble janiform herm of Dionysos, depicting the youthful god as the epitome of idealized Classical beauty. In addition, Christie’s is delighted to be offering the Rudolph Schmidt collection of Predynastic and Early Dynastic Egyptian vessels. The sale also includes a wonderful selection of finely executed Greek vases, including notable Attic black-figure pieces, lively red-figure examples, and rare Chalcidian amphorae.
