Art d'Asie

Sale Overview

The Paris Asian Art sale realised €6,969,250 / £5,619,306 / $8,711,562

Mathilde Courteault, Head of the Department commented: “The good results of the Asian Art sale demonstrated that the international bidders answered positively to rare works with rich provenance as a rare bronze animal-form vessel (lot 286) sold for €505,000, more than three times its pre-sale estimate and as a wood figure of Syamatara (lot 371) sold for €505,000, much more than its pre-sale low estimate. Another important point is that the bidders were not only present in the auction room but also on Christie’s Live with 16% of the sold lots and an under-bid of €160,000 for a white jade octagonal ewer and cover (lot 153) which was finally sold to an Asian trade for €361,000, multiplying by twenty its original estimate”
