Sale Overview
This December, Art d’Asie presents 208 lots of important porcelain and works of art including cloisonné enamels, lacquer and Buddhist sculptures.
Highlights include an extremely rare bronze figure of Buddha, Nepal, from the Malla period, 13th-14th century from a private Belgian collection and an exceptional Buddhist shrine made of jade, gilt-lacquer, lapis-lazuli and zitan dated to the Yongzheng-Qianlong reign discovered in a French private family.
From the Ming Dynasty, the sale will offer a rare selection of porcelain including a very rare and important iron-brown-decorated ‘Gardenia’ dish, Xuande mark and period, together with a small red and yellow enamelled ‘dragon’ jar from the Eumorfopoulos collection, both from a private European collector. Also from the early Ming Dynasty the sale will present a rare and important cloisonné ‘makara’ washer from a private European collection and two beautiful Longquan pieces: an important celadon carved double-gourd vase from Italy and a massive celadon ‘lotus bouquet’ charger acquired in Indonesia in 1933.
The sale will also offer pieces from private collections: porcelain from Dr. Kuo Fang-Chou family collection from Taipei, porcelain and works of art from Galerie Duchange from Paris, lacquer from The Kaisendo Museum collection from Japan and jades from an important collection from Asia including a rare white and russet ‘dragon’ marriage bowl.
