Old Master & British Paintings Evening Sale

Our December sale offers pictures from the Northern Renaissance through to works from Georgian Britain, led by an extraordinary work by the German artist Hans Hoffmann. A true masterpiece, Hoffmann's A hare among plants was inspired by Albrecht Dürer's iconic watercolour of a hare, the influence of which has been felt across generations of artists.

The sale also features outstanding Netherlandish pictures including a rediscovered flower piece by Ambrosius Bosschaert the Elder, one of the pioneers of still life painting. The taste for later Italian pictures is represented by two fine view paintings by Francesco Guardi and a wonderful landscape by Francesco Zuccarelli.
