Treasures from a Prominent Japanese Cellar: Online

Treasures from a Prominent Japanese Cellar: Online

Sale Overview

Christie’s Hong Kong is delighted to present Treasures from a Prominent Japanese Cellar: Online, a collection assembled over more than two decades by a passionate collector whose journey into wine began with a simple desire to bring pleasure to others. What started in 2004 as the purchase of a few bottles for important clients and friends gradually evolved into an extraordinary cellar of thousands of bottles built through a dedication to sharing memorable wines and creating meaningful moments around the table. Reflecting both the generosity of its owner and a discerning eye for quality, the sale presents an exceptional cross-section of the world's most sought-after wines, featuring the great First Growths of Bordeaux, the rarest domaines of Burgundy, iconic Champagnes, and benchmark producers from California. This remarkable collection is further distinguished by a number of bottles bearing original signatures, engravings, or special commemorative markings from leading figures of the wine world.

With over 270 lots, Burgundy represents one of the sale's greatest strengths, featuring an exceptional concentration of the Côte d'Or's most sought-after producers. Highlights include an outstanding selection from Domaine de la Romanée-Conti 1996 to 2020, alongside rare offerings from Domaine Leroy, Domaine d'Auvenay, Domaine du Comte Liger-Belair, Domaine Armand Rousseau, Domaine Comte Georges de Vogüé, Emmanuel Rouget and Henri Jayer.

Classic Bordeaux adds considerable depth to the sale, with extensive holdings of Château Mouton Rothschild, Château Margaux, Château Haut-Brion, Petrus, Le Pin, Château Cheval Blanc and Château Lafleur. Offered across a broad range of vintages, many in original wooden cases, the collection also features signed bottles and special releases, including examples personally signed by Christian Moueix and Paul Pontallier.

Champagne is represented by an extraordinary range of prestige cuvées and limited editions, including Salon, Krug Clos du Mesnil and Clos d'Ambonnay, Dom Pérignon P2 and P3, Cristal Vinothèque, Armand de Brignac, Henri Giraud, Charles Heidsieck La Collection Crayères and numerous collector's presentation sets, many offered in original packaging.

Beyond France, the sale showcases an impressive selection of Italy's greatest estates, including Masseto, Sassicaia, Solaia, Giacomo Conterno Monfortino Riserva and Gaja, alongside Spain's Vega Sicilia Único, Germany's Egon Müller, Australia's Henschke Hill of Grace and Penfolds Grange, and California's most sought-after cult wines such as Harlan Estate, Screaming Eagle and Promontory.

Most of the lots have been recently transferred from a professional wine storage facility in Japan, ensuring optimal care and offering discerning collectors the opportunity to acquire bottles of true pedigree and global significance.
