The Flacks Family Collection II: Curtain Call

The Flacks Family Collection II: Curtain Call

Sale Overview

Christie’s is pleased to present The Flacks Family Collection: Curtain Call, on 12 May, celebrating the return of Christie’s Chinese art sales to London. Featuring exceptional examples of Chinese furniture, works of art and contemporary Chinese ink painting from the collection of Marcus and Deborah Flacks, the sale marks the couple’s retirement from the field of Chinese furniture and the continuation of their artistic journey.

Among the highlights is a rare 17th‑century huanghuali wine table, distinguished by its sophisticated construction techniques and innovative design; a masterfully conceived Ming‑dynasty huanghuali chair with elegant S‑curved spindles; and a large ink painting of a taihu stone by Liu Dan, entitled Auspicious Cloud, commissioned by the Flacks and reflecting their early and influential championing of contemporary Chinese ink painting.
