The very first Bande Dessinée et Illustration auction at Christie’s Paris realised €3,889,500. Over 900 collectors and connoisseurs have come to the viewing to admire pages and original covers, and a large amount of these viewers have also attended the sale. This auction marks a clear turning point for the British auction house. Over 73% of the lots were sold to enthusiastic bidders present in the saleroom, on the phone and especially on the internet with a record bidding participation on Christie’s Live which counted 85% of new clients.
