Sale Overview

This season Christie’s South Kensington introduces a new sale format: a two-day sale of Chinese Ceramics, Works of Art and Textiles on 14 May and 16 May. It includes a varied selection of 750 lots spanning over two thousand years of Chinese art from the Shang dynasty (c.1600BC) to the Republic period (1912-1949). It features a number of lots of great provenance from private UK, European and Asian collections including the jade carvings and works of art belonging to Cheng Huan Q.C., S.C. primarily assembled in the 1970s and 1980s; works of art and textiles from the Werner Forman (1921-2010) Collection formed from the 1950s to the 1990s; Song, Ming and Qing ceramics including the E.T. Hall (1925-2001) Collection of 18th century monochrome porcelain; a large 30-lot section of Republic porcelain; paintings and Imperial textiles.
