Cet ensemble forme un bel hommage au parcours et à l’héritage artistique singulier de deux figures, profondément enracinées dans leur ville, Montauban, dont elles marqueront l’histoire.
Ainsi, le cœur de cette vacation tournera autour des œuvres de Marie Toyen, Yves Tanguy, Max Ernst, Wolfgang Paalen, André Breton, Serge Poliakoff, Victor Brauner ou encore Josef Sima.

The Paul and Jacqueline Duchein Collection, to be held in Paris on September 24, illustrates the passion for art, shared by this collecting couple for over 60 years. 152 works will be offered for sale, combining surrealist art, folk art, ancient art, African and Oceanic art, art brut and post-war art. This selection is a fine tribute to the career and singular artistic heritage of two figures deeply rooted in their town, Montauban, whose history they left their mark on.
Works by Marie Toyen, Yves Tanguy, Max Ernst, Wolfgang Paalen, André Breton, Serge Poliakoff, Victor Brauner and Josef Sima are the key stones of this vacation.

Head of Department | Impressionist & Modern Art

Antoine Lebouteiller is the Head of the Impressionist and Modern Art department at Christie’s France. Antoine first joined Christie’s in 2009 in Paris, and has worked since 2013 at the London office as a Specialist for the Day and Works on Paper sales and later as Director and Senior Specialist for the Evening Sale. In December 2018, he rejoined the Paris team, leading the Avant-Garde and Works on Paper Sales.

Antoine worked closely with Deputy Chairman Olivier Camu on the Art of the Surreal evening auctions and was instrumental in the record-breaking sale of the Claudel bronze group in June 2018. Furthermore, he played a seminal role for many acquisitions by major international institutions, including an important Paul Gauguin ceramic acquired by the Musée d’Orsay during the October 2018 Unbreakable sale, of which he was the Impressionist lead.
