Christie’s is delighted to present Crafted & Collected: The Jonathan Burden Sale.
Reimagining the traditional country house sale model for a modern audience, this online-only auction, open from 24 September–8 October, offers the contents of Jonathan Burden’s Long Island City studio. All lots will remain at Jonathan’s studio, and Christie’s invites clients to view and experience the sale in situ.
A celebrated antique furniture conservator and dealer, Jonathan Burden has been a defining presence on New York’s interiors scene since the 1980s. In 2016, he relocated his gallery and restoration workshop from Tribeca to a converted industrial warehouse in Long Island City, creating a space where his restoration practice and an eclectic collection of antique and contemporary furniture and decorative arts coexist, and where clients are now invited to view the sale. The lots on offer encompass a wide range of categories and periods, from 18th-century Anglo-Indian and Georgian antiques to modern lighting and contemporary pieces crafted by Burden LLC, offering a rare glimpse into his singular eye for design.
With the majority of lots offered without reserve and starting bids from just $100, collectors at every level have the opportunity to acquire exceptional pieces directly from the studio via Christie’s online platform.
