Leading the sale is A Pristine Private Collection of fine and rare wines, featuring the very best producers from Bordeaux, Burgundy, Champagne and Tuscany — all in pristine condition with outstanding provenance. The collection was purchased on release from the respective UK agents and stored in a bonded professional warehouse in England.
The highlight of the collection is the comprehensive selection of red Bordeaux with outstanding vintages from the Left Bank, including all the First Growth Châteaux: Latour, Lafite Rothschild, Mouton Rothschild, Margaux and Haut-Brion. From the Right Bank are the iconic estates, including Ausone, Cheval Blanc, Vieux Château Certan, Lafleur and L’Eglise Clinet.
From Burgundy, highlights include stunning whites from Domaine Leflaive and Sauzet, and reds from Roumier, Grivot, Bouchard, Liger-Belair and Faiveley.
We are delighted to feature A Classical Cellar, a collection of fine wines and vintage ports from famous estates in the classic regions. Highlights include Bordeaux from the finest Châteaux — Latour, Lafite, Mouton, Margaux, Haut-Brion, La Mission, Petrus, Pavie and Château d’Yquem; vintage Champagnes from Dom Pérignon and Louis Roederer’s Cristal; and rare classics from the Rhône, including Henri Bonneau’s Celestins, and vintage ports from top houses such as Taylor’s and Quinta do Noval.
The Château Collection is an impressive selection of great French and Italian wines from a charming Swiss château near Geneva. Lovingly assembled over decades and stored in a purpose-built underground cellar, the backbone of the collection is made up of the finest Bordeaux, with almost all the great estates represented. Most impressive is the deep and extensive collection of rare Château d’Yquem, reaching back to the late 19th century and covering all the most iconic vintages of the 20th century. The collection also includes mature Burgundy, rare Rhône wines and a selection of Super Tuscans.
Christie’s has a long history of selling superb collections of rare Spanish wine, and The Spanish Collection fits squarely into this tradition. This venerable collection comes from a private cellar in Northern Spain and includes some of the rarest Riojas ever sold at auction. Highlights include a magnificent bottle of Marques de Murrieta 1911 — only offered once previously at auction in 1988 — as well as Murrieta 1937 and 1948, La Rioja Alta 890 1959, La Rioja Alta 904 1964 and multiple lots of Tondonia from the 1970s and 1980s.
These are rare, soulful wines.
