Finest and Rarest Wines: A Journey through the Vinkallare of Staffan Hansson

Christie’s New York Wine Department is proud to announce the single-owner sale of the finest wines from a legendary collector as part of a two-day auction during Luxury Week New York. Finest and Rarest Wines: A Journey Through the Vinkällare of Staffan Hansson explores the passion of one of the most respected wine collectors in the world. Staffan Hansson has amassed one of the greatest collections over five decades of collecting wine. What is more exceptional than the wines is his attention to detail on storage and provenance. All wines were cellared in a custom-built subterranean wine cellar maintaining a constant temperature of 46° F. In addition, the collector has maintained catalogs of purchase records and acquired them either directly from the winery or on-release from reputable wine merchants throughout Europe.

Highlights include the rarest wines from Champagne, Burgundy, Bordeaux, Italy, and California. Featuring case-quantities of fine Champagne including Jacques Selosse, Salon, Philipponnat Clos de Goisses, and Krug Clos du Mesnil, Not to miss are cases of the rarest red and white Burgundy from legendary Domaines including Domaine de la Romanée-Conti, Leroy, Leflaive, Coche-Dury, and René Engel. The sale continues to Bordeaux’s greatest Châteaux, Italian superstars including Gaja and Masseto, to the rarest California wines from Screaming Eagle, Harlan and Sine Qua Non.
