Finest and Rarest Wines Featuring Tignanello's 50th Anniversary Collection Direct from The Estate and a Superb European Collection

Sale Overview

Christie’s presents a superb range of wines in our London auction. We partner with Decanter World Wine Awards for an offering of award-winning wines. These lots include wines from Champagne, Burgundy, Italy, Spain, Australia and the United States.

A very special offering of wines direct from the Tenuta Tignanello estate celebrates the 50th anniversary release of Tignanello 1971, a pioneering wine that played a major role in the rise of the world-renowned ‘Super Tuscan’ movement. This exceptional collection will showcase nearly every vintage of the iconic Tignanello, including its debut 1971 vintage (first released in 1974), as well as a barrique of the 2024 vintage. Featuring 40 lots directly from the cellars of the estate in Tuscany, the collection spans five decades and includes an exceptional vertical selection of vintages, with all but the 1975 vintage represented, in a variety of bottle formats including magnums, double-magnums, six litres and even one 15-litre bottle — unprecedented in Tignanello’s production.

Featuring some of the finest wines ever crafted, we’re delighted to present a single-owner collection of exceptional wines. The passion project of a lifelong wine lover and collector, this is a meticulously curated cellar which has been collected over many years, with a particular focus on the wines of France, especially regions such as Bordeaux, Burgundy and the Rhône, with a spectacular selection of rare Champagne, including vintages of Krug and Cristal. Petrus from 1947 to 2012 is a special highlight, alongside Château d’Yquem from 1908 to 2008. Bottles of Hermitage La Chapelle 1978 leads a section of glorious wines from the Rhône. The deep range of vintages on offer makes this cellar a treasure trove of wines that are as sought after as they are now difficult to source. These wines were all stored in an immaculate purpose-built cellar and the exceptional levels and colours of the wines reflect their perfect storage.

Further single-owner collections within the auction include a lovely London cellar, with a focus on the wines of Armand Rousseau, Domaine Grivot, Domaine Ponsot, Domaine Bachelet and recent vintages of stylish wines from Laurent Ponsot, under his own name. Two pristine cases of Château Lafleur 1982 are featured and white Burgundy is a highlight with a selection of Sauzet, Bernard Moreau and Vincent Dancer.
