The sale of Important Chinese Archaic Bronzes from a Distinguished Private Collection will feature several outstanding archaic bronze ritual vessels dating from the Shang to Han dynasties. This private collection boasts outstanding provenance and many of these bronze vessels have been published in seminal publications as early as 1842 and extensively thereafter. A major highlight from the sale is an impressive and important ritual wine vessel, fangyi, dating to the late Shang dynasty (11th-10th century BC) from the Anyang period. Other rare and important highlights include a superbly cast ritual food vessel, known as a liding and also dating to the Shang dynasty and a rare and beautifully proportioned ritual lei vessel, dating to the Spring and Autumn Period (Early 7th century BC).
