Important Chinese Ceramics and Works of Art

Sale Overview

Leading this sale is a superb dish made at the Imperial kilns during the Xuande reign (1426-1435), delightfully decorated with pomegranate flowers and other fruits in cobalt blue of a brilliant sapphire tone, representing the very best Imperial pieces made during the period. In addition, a wide range of objects under innovative themes is presented, such as a charming group of art works in animal forms, spanning across centuries from as early as the Warring States period (475-221 BC) to the Qing dynasty (1644-1911); scholar’s objects which reflect the sophisticated taste of the Chinese literati, including an Imperial leisure seal belonging to the Qianlong Emperor (r. 1736-1795); as well as a group of exquisite monochrome ceramics from the Tang to Song dynasties.
