Impressionist & Modern Day Sale

Impressionist & Modern Day Sale

Sale Overview

The Impressionist and Modern Art Day Sale in New York offers a curated selection of paintings and sculptures by the leading international artists of the late 19th and 20th centuries. Highlights this season include important works by Tamara de Lempicka, Pierre Bonnard, Frederick Carl Frieseke, Henry Moore, Pablo Picasso, Childe Hassam, Alfred Sisley, Leonora Carrington and Rufino Tamayo.

The Day sale is led by Birth of the Modern: The Arnold and Joan Saltzman Collection, a landmark group that encapsulates the radical spirit of early modernism. Notably, the collection features Robert Delaunay’s Portrait of Jean Metzinger alongside its pendant, Metzinger’s Portrait of Delaunay—first shown together at the Salon d’Automne in 1906. Additionally anchored by a colorful landscape by Karl Schmidt-Rottluff, the collection regroups masterpieces of the international avant-garde, from neo-Impressionism through Cubism to classic modernism.

The Day sale is also proud to present highlights from prestigious family and institutional collections such as The Collection of Robert F. and Patricia G. Ross Weis; the Property from the Bill and Dorothy Fisher Collection Sold to Benefit The Community of Marshalltown, Iowa, Property from the Collection of Max and Cecile Draime; In Pursuit of Light: The Collection of Carol and Terry Wall, and Property from the Family of Robert Treat Paine II, among others.
