Latin American Art
Christie’s spring Latin American Art sale features works by the most sought-after artists from across the region. Leading the sale is a strong selection of Mexican modernism, including a vibrant painting of street musicians by the master of colour, Rufino Tamayo; an intimate portrait of a young girl by Diego Rivera; and a persuasive depiction of feminine power and fecundity by Miguel Covarrubias. Highlights also include masterpieces from Cuban surrealist Wifredo Lam, Ecuadorian Oswaldo Guayasamín, Brazilians Luiz Zerbini and Amilcar de Castro and a selection of paintings, sculptures and works on paper by celebrated Colombian master Fernando Botero.
