Old Master & Early British Drawings & Watercolours

Sale Overview

The sale presents a broad range of Old Master and Early British Drawings and Watercolours, offering a collection of works by a variety of artists with estimates from £400 up to £15,000.  It includes a group of late 18th century Venetian drawings collected by Jakob Künhans, Secretary to the English Resident at Venice, offering an insight into the artistic and scientific circles of the time.  Foremost among them is a fine drawing, Turks with an augur looking out to sea, perhaps an allegory of the Battle of Lepanto, by Giovanni Domenico Tiepolo (£15,000 – 20,000).  Another private collection will be offered with forty watercolours from Golden Age Masters such as Sandby, Cox, Rowlandson, de Wint and Lear.
