Basquiat’s Warrior becomes most expensive Western artwork ever sold in Asia at HK$323,600,000 / $41,857,351
This February, Christie’s 20th Century Season will continue with the Post-War and Contemporary Evening Auction on 12 February 2020. Offering a range of exceptional 20th and 21st century pieces, highlights will include works by leading international post-war and contemporary artists, Sigmar Polke, Gerhard Richter, Jean Dubuffet, Jean-Michel Basquiat, Yoshitomo Nara and David Hockney. At a particularly heightened time of their career with recent retrospectives held in London at the Hayward and Serpentine Galleries this year, extraordinary paintings by Bridget Riley and Albert Oehlen will also be offered.
Alongside superb works by contemporary emerging talent including Tschabalala Self, Jordan Casteel, Henry Taylor and Eddie Martinez, eleven works by Andy Warhol will be presented from the collections of Richard L. Weisman and the UniCredit Group.
