Silsila: Highlights from the Dalloul Collection including Modern and Contemporary Middle Eastern Art

Silsila: Highlights from the Dalloul Collection including Modern and Contemporary Middle Eastern Art

Sale Overview

Following the record-breaking auctions of 2023 and 2024, Christie’s is proud to present SILSILA: Highlights from the Dalloul Collection including Modern and Contemporary Art, taking place on 6 November 2025. Silsila — meaning “chain” or “sequence” in Arabic — marks the next chapter in the evolution of the esteemed Dalloul Collection, Beirut, Lebanon, and Dr Basel Dalloul’s collaboration with Christie’s.

Renowned for its extraordinary breadth and depth, the Dalloul Collection offers a captivating journey through Arab art history, paying tribute to the region’s rich cultural heritage and diversity. The 21 highlights featured in the auction showcase masterpieces by Mohamed Melehi, Mahmoud Saïd, Dia Al-Azzawi, and Marwan. A particular focus on Lebanon and Palestine — the ancestral homelands of the Dalloul family — is evident in works by Huguette Caland, Paul Guiragossian, Samia Halaby, and Kamal Boullata.

The live auction also features important works from other notable private collections, including evocative homages to landscape: La colline de Mekarzel by Mahmoud Saïd, Soukhour Meyrouba by Aref El Rayess, and Untitled by Etel Adnan. Following the recent publication The World of Saïd El-Adawi, the sale will include a rare 1972 painting by the artist, as well as Back Garden, Camden Town, painted by Jewad Selim during his time in London. Honouring the brilliance of female creativity, the auction will present works by pioneering Egyptian artist Gazbia Sirry, as well as Poem, a delicately carved modular wooden sculpture by Saloua Raouda Choucair.

This auction represents a marquee moment in the international art calendar, reflecting the vitality and diversity of artistic production across North Africa, Egypt, the Levant, Iraq and Iran.

Christies London will be presenting highlights from the Dalloul Collection 18 - 30 October.
