The Ian and Susan Wilson Collection of Scholar’s Objects represents around 125 lots amassed by the esteemed collectors over a period of more than 20 years. The collection is composed of various objects that would have graced a Chinese scholar’s studio and desk, including brushes, scholar’s rocks, ink stones, brush rests, libation cups, brush pots and antique curiosities, as well as a collection of calligraphic paintings. Many of the objects are carved from precious woods, such as huanghuali, zitan, and chenxiangmu, while others are of duan stone, lacquer, jade and gilt-bronze. The sale represents an excellent opportunity for new and established collectors to acquire beautiful scholar’s objects from a respected collection.
