THE ROSS HAMILTON COLLECTION Journeys to the Pimlico Road

Sale Overview
Encouraged by his mentor David Nightingale Hicks, Australian-born Ross Hamilton opened an antiques shop in the Pimlico Road in 1973, with his name above the door. Mark Boyce joined the Ross Hamilton gallery in 1978, complementing Hamilton’s self-described ‘truffle-hound’ ways. Hamilton’s natural instinct for seeking pictures, furniture and objects of the highest quality meant the shop was a success from its foundation, and the gallery spent years welcoming numerous high profile clients including Rudolf Nureyev, Bill Blass, Richard Gere, Elton John and Princess Lee Radziwell, as well as many internationally respected decorators such as David Mlinaric, Jed Johnson, Mark Hampton and Chester Jones. The present collection comprises Indian, Chinese, English and European furniture, Chinese, Japanese and European ceramics and works of art, Old Master, 19th and 20th century paintings, all of which define the timeless dialogue between the East and the West and superbly show the elegant fusion between distinct cultures.
