Carina Villinger, Head of 20th Century Decorative Arts, Christie’s Americas, remarked: “We are delighted with the results of this exceptional collection. The passionate bidding that occurred throughout the two-day sale was a testament to the connoisseurship with which Mr. Greenberg built his collection, as well as the enduring appeal of French Art Deco within an international audience. Many of the lots achieved tremendous prices and we were particularly pleased by the world auction record set for a work by Jean Dupas. His Allegorie du Tissu realized $1,650,500, nearly 5 times its high estimate.”

Philippe Garner, Director of 20th Century Decorative Arts & Photographs, Christie’s, added:  “It was a great honor to have taken the Steven A. Greenberg Collection, which was the most important collection of French Art Deco to have ever been presented in the United States. Mr. Greenberg started his collection in the 1970’s and showed exceptional flair and very real expertise in his choices. The remarkable response that we witnessed in the auction room is a testament to the passion he invested in this project.”
