The art world returns to London and Paris this autumn, with Christie’s presenting the best of modern and contemporary art at auction alongside Frieze and Art Basel Paris and landmark museum exhibitions from Van Gogh to Tom Wesselmann.
The 20th/21st Century: Evening Sale in London features a monumental portrait by Lucian Freud (Ria, Naked) magnificent sculpture by Jeff Koons, Balloon Monkey (Blue) and a vibrant Willem de Kooning coming from the prestigious collection of Eric Clapton.

The Impressionist and Modern Art Works on Paper and Day Sale is led by Alsener Landschaft, an early and rare work by Karl Schmidt-Rottluff, held in the same private collection since it was acquired directly from the artist. Showcasing ground-breaking Impressionists alongside modern masters who defined the critical movements of the early 20th century, the auction features a dynamic selection of works by Pablo Picasso, Henri Matisse and Marc Chagall, including the striking Les amoureux au bouquet rouge, from a prestigious private collection.

The Post-War and Contemporary Art Day Sale offers an exciting selection of works by leading artists from the 20th and 21st century, including Sean Scully and Alighiero Boetti, a rare hand-painted Mount Vesuvius by Andy Warhol, and a monumental abstract canvas by Jadé Fadojutimi. Also on offer are works by Tracey Emin to benefit The British Council and Marina Abramovic in support of Blue Marine Foundation.

And for buyers looking for more accessibly priced works, a diverse array of international post-war and contemporary art and photography will be on offer during The Post-War and Contemporary Art Online Sale.

The week ends with our Modern British and Irish Art Day and Evening Sale, showcasing the breadth and diversity of British and Irish art in the 20th and 21st centuries, with the excitement continuing in Paris until 22 October.
