With participation from 67 countries and an 89% sell‑through rate, the season achieved world records for Dorothea Tanning, Toyen and Henry Moore, whose King and Queen realised £26,345,000 — the highest price of the season, marking the third consecutive series in which Christie’s has achieved this distinction.
Christie’s also reaffirmed its position as the auction house of choice for private collections, with standout results for two landmark groupings: Modern Visionaries – The Roger and Josette Vanthournout Collection, achieving 146% of the low estimate, and Spellbound: The Hegewisch Collection, achieving 170% of the low estimate.
Further underscoring this momentum, our Impressionist and Modern and Post‑War and Contemporary Day Sales surpassed £34 million, doubling the total of our competitor’s equivalent sales, with 41% of lots selling above the high estimate.
In its 25th edition, The Art of the Surreal Sale sold 100% by lot and value, while the Modern British & Irish Evening Sale achieved £11,639,000, selling 99% by value.
As we look ahead to our June and October sales, we invite you to leverage Christie’s market‑leading expertise with a complimentary valuation for your work or collection.
