• Event date 27 February - 21 March
  • Event location London
This March, Christie’s 20th and 21st Century Art sales series returns to London, spotlighting the stylistic connections and continued dialogues between modern masters and contemporary icons across seven live and online auctions.

The 20th/21st Century: London Evening Sale on 7 March features major works by some of the period’s most significant artists, including Francis Bacon’s Landscape near Malabata, Tangier and David Hockney’s California. Marking the 150th anniversary of the First Impressionist Exhibition, the auction also includes works by leading figures of the movement, including Claude Monet’s Matinée sur la Seine, alongside pieces by Pierre-Auguste Renoir and Camille Pissarro. Moreover, the sale presents an outstanding group of works by Alighiero Boetti brought together by one visionary collector. Immediately following is The Art of the Surreal Evening Sale, which is headlined by René Magritte’s mysterious L’ami intime (The Intimate Friend), making its return to the auction stage over 40 years after it was last presented.

This season’s exciting line-up continues with the Impressionist and Modern Art Day and Works on Paper Sale on 8 March, the Post-War and Contemporary Art Day Sale on 9 March and our online sale of First Open, which will be open for bidding from 27 February to 12 March.

Whether just starting your collection or searching for a magnum opus, you can explore all this and more at our pre-sale exhibition, with free entry for all in London from 1 to 7 March.
