• Event date 26 February - 11 March
  • Event location New York
The Contemporary New York auctions concluded on 11 March with great success. Drawing bidders from over 35 different countries, over 250 of whom were new to Christie’s, these seven sales across art and design continue to attract collectors.

Kicking off the live auctions with Post-War to Present, highlights included Helen Frankenthaler’s masterpiece, Concerto, which tripled its high estimate of $700,000 to fetch $2,107,000 and Ed Ruscha’s enigmatic Pressures, which achieved $1,986,000.

Among the most exciting lots for Latin American Art were Fernando Botero’s Shoeshine, which realized $1,171,800, and Olga de Amaral’s Sol blanco 10, which achieved $94,500 for the online sale.

Other standouts include Barbara Kruger’s Untitled (We will no longer be seen and not heard) in Contemporary Edition and Christo’s Study for Portrait of Holly in First Open, both of which exceeded their low estimates twofold and achieved $100,800 each. Modern Collector also peaked collectors' interests with top lots such as Piero Fornasetti’s 'Leopardo' Curved Chest of Drawers, circa 1960, which reached over double the low estimate at $35,280.

Breaking barriers and ushering in a new generation of bidders — nearly half of whom were Millennials and Gen Z — Augmented Intelligence set the bar as the first artificial intelligence-dedicated sale at a major auction house. Among the most anticipated lots was Refik Anadol’s Machine Hallucinations - ISS Dreams, which sold for $277,200, surpassing its high estimate.

With more auctions and exciting opportunities around the corner, we invite you to and be a part of next season’s sales.
