Located in Amsterdam-West, the heart of the city, Christie’s offices are housed at Vondelstraat 73, built by and formerly the home of the architect of the Rijksmuseum and Amsterdam Central station P.J.H. Cuypers (1827–1921).

From its first auction in 1973, Christie’s Amsterdam has held various historic sales such as the Liechtenstein collection, the Anton Philips collection, the Anton Dreesmann Collection, The Property of the Scheringa Museum of Realist Art, The Piet and Ida Sanders Collection, The Hofland Collection and the Collection of Old Master Drawings of Prof. I.Q. van Regteren Altena.

In 1986, Christie’s Amsterdam sold the world-famous Nanking Cargo. The trove of more than 150,000 pieces of 18th-century Chinese porcelain and gold ingots fetched more than €17 million, still a record for any auction conducted in the Netherlands.

Christie’s Amsterdam holds two online Post-War & Contemporary Art auctions per year, in April and November, with viewing days at our office at the Vondelstraat 73, as well as single-owner auctions. Christie’s Amsterdam also regularly organises lectures, special events, charity auctions and previews of highlights from major upcoming international auctions.

The Amsterdam team includes specialists in various fields such as Post-War & Contemporary Art, Impressionist & Modern Art, Old Masters, 19th Century Art, Jewellery, Watches and Wine. Our specialists offer their expertise, confidentially and without any obligation on your part, as well as a wide range of services such as valuations, advice and direct access to the company’s global network of auctions and private sales.
