A GEORGE III SATINWOOD, MAHOGANY AND MARQUETRY COMMODE-ON-STAND
The breakfront rectangular top inlaid with circular panel and two satinwood-banded panels above a central door inlaid with flowerhead and scrolled foliage, enclosing a shelf, flanked by two doors enclosing one shelf, inlaid with garlanded urns on square plinth, the stand on six square tapering legs headed by simulated fluting and with later foliate tapering brass caps, inscribed in pencil to the reverse 1232, adapted, restorations

Lot Essay
This commode previously had a secretaire-drawer above the doors and had different foliate caps. It was offered in that form in these Rooms, 5 July 1990, lot 61.
