CENTRAL ANATOLIA, FIRST HALF 19TH CENTURY
The rust-brown field with a central column of floral sprays flanked by twin light blue floral columns descending from the shaped light blue mihrab arch containing diagonal rows of small floral motifs, a floral cross-panel above and below, in an indigo border of stylised floral sprays between ivory floral and rust S-motif stripes, even wear, areas of repiling in two phases, ends rewoven, small other repairs, replaced selvages
Approximately 6ft.1in. x 4ft.3in. (185cm. x 130cm.)
Warp: wool brown to light brown Z2S or 1 strand white with one strand light brown, depressed, undulating
Weft: 2 shoots, at times 3, white, ivory or yellow wool, one and three undulating, the other more so
Pile: wool Z1, symmetrical inclining to the left, H3.1 x V3.8/cm.
Remarks: lazy lines
