Labelled Ferdinandus Gagliano Filius/Nicolai fecit Neap. 1766; the two-piece back of faint irregular figure, the ribs and scroll of medium curl, the table of medium grain, the varnish of a red brown colour over a golden ground.
The length of back 14 1/8in. (35.9cm.)

Sold with the certificate of Rembert Wurlitzer dated 10 November 1960 stating the violin to be the work of Ferdinand Gagliano
