The blade of hollow-triangular section etched and gilt (gilding rubbed) for most of its length with strapwork, a fleur-de-lys, and at the base with circular medallions inscribed respectively 'Ne Me Tire Pas Sans Raison' and 'Ne Me Remette Pas Sans Honneur', the hilt finely cast and chased in high relief with elaborate rocailles and small martial trophies against a minutely stippled gilt ground
