A 22-BORE GERMAN SILVER-MOUNTED FLINTLOCK HOLSTER PISTOL

With two-stage barrel and silver fore-sight, plain tang, flat bevelled lock signed 'C. Weber A. C. Erlang' and with stepped tail (top half of cock missing), lightly carved full stock (fore-end cap missing), faceted mounts including spurred pommel and solid side-plate, and foliate engraved escutcheon, the trigger-guard with extension for the third and fourth fingers (ramrod missing), silver maker's mark IGH in a trefoil

Lot Essay

The 'C. Erlang' on the lock stands for Christian Erlang, i.e. Erlang-Neustadt which was built to the south of the old Erlang by Huguenot emigrés after 1685.
Caspar Weber (1700-1784), became master and citizen of the town in 1722
