A PAIR OF 22-BORE GILT-MOUNTED TURKISH FLINTLOCK HOLSTER PISTOLS

EARLY 19TH CENTURY

With three-stage barrels encrusted with gold scrollwork and martial trophies, gold-encrusted tang incorporating the back-sight, rounded locks and cocks also with gold-encrusted decoration, gold-encrusted pans and steels, walnut full stocks profusely inlaid with scrollwork and foliage in silver and with a pierced and engraved silver panel in the form of a martial trophy at each barrel tang, gilt white-metal mounts cast and chased in relief with trophies of arms, flowers and foliage, including spurred pummels each with a plumed helmet on the cap, cast and chased gilt muzzle-bands each with attached false ramrod (one front pipe missing), and later brass escutcheons (one top jaw and screw replaced, one silver panel missing)
