Contemporary panelled calf gilt.
FIRST EDITION of the original text of Pigafetta's description of Magellan's voyage taken from the original 16th century Italian manuscript in the Ambrosian Library in Milan. This is the famous report describing the first voyage to circumnavigate the earth, when Magellan proved that the earth was round and that America was a separate continent.
