Of Louis XIV design, the charcoal-black field with scrolling entwined acanthus leaves and leafy tendrils around a large framed ivory panel containing entwined strapwork linking four crowned royal arms of France and issuing floral swags around a central oval radiating fluted panel with golden leafy centrepiece, in a broad ivory floral panelled border between panelled and floral stripes with a stylised shell in each corner, rope-motif and plain camel brown outer stripes
