Of Renaissance style, the rectangular hinged lid with floral border enclosing a plain interior with a compartment to one side, the front with a central cartouche flanked by chimaeras issuing scrolling acanthus and standing on a serpent, the eagles issuing from a cabochon and the sides with strapwork designs, above the gadrooned and floral base, on later bun feet, restorations to the top, 19th Century and re-using earlier elements
