'Souvenir of Gwalior', album presented by the Maharaja of Gwalior, 1906

Album of 108 gelatin silver prints, various sizes to approx. 13¾ x 10½ in. and including two two-part panoramas each approx. 8 x 21 in., approx. twenty-five mounted one-per-page, the majority with printed title labels with photographers' reference number on mounts, tissue guards, signed and dated With Complements (sic) from Madhorao Sindia Gwalior 1906 on front blank, maroon morocco, gilt, titled, dated and with armorial and photographers' credit Herzog & Higgins Mhow (Central India) in gilt on front cover, t.e.g., oblong folio.

An album commemorating the visit of H.R.H. The Prince of Wales to Gwalior, including portraits of the prince and his entourage with H. H. Sir Madhorao Sindhia Bahadur, the Maharaja of Gwalior; the Moti Mahal Palace; the Sipri Palace; the camp and environs at Raipur with an alligator caught in the Scinde river; the royal visit to a famine camp at Sighwasa, near Sipri; the prince and hunting party posed with tigers and cheetahs; the prince posed with officers of the C. I. Horse Regiments; a panorama from the fort at Gwalior and another from Jai Bilas palace looking south; a view of the Jai Bilas palace exterior and a magnificent large interior study of the Durbar Hall; views of and from the fort at Gwalior.

P. Herzog & P. Higgins both worked as assistants to Johnston & Hoffmann and Lala Deen Dayal in the 1890s. They operated from a studio in Mhow from c.1894-1920s.
