An Apulian gnathia ware flask

The entire vessel black glazed save reserved band where foot joins body and reserved underside, the neck with vertical stripes between horizontal lines, around the shoulder two horizontal lines frame a frieze of elaborate yellow swirling tendrils with central female head in profile, the head white with added yellow for hair and detail in dilute glaze, below a white line above the black ribbed body, (intact); and an Apulian gnathia ware skyphos with horizontal handles, decorated in white and yellow with ovolo between incised lines around rim, below A: decorative circle and stripe border above and meander border below central scene showing white female head in profile wearing sakkos, yellow hair and details in dilute glaze, framed by elaborate swirling tendrils on each side, two groups of three dots and two vine leaves above, B: groups of three dots, two rosettes between vertical ivy sprays, incised detail for vertical sprays, (repaired from large fragments)
