An apulian guttus
Circa 330 B.C.
With ring handle, spout in the form of a ram's head with hole in its muzzle and built-in strainer on top with twenty-four holes in its opening, with reserved wave pattern around the exterior strainer rim and black wave pattern on reserved band around foot, black edge to foot which is reserved with black circle around inner edge, around the body are three seated figures, facing each other a youth in Oscan dress with short belted chiton, conical hat and high boots, holds olive branch in right hand and phiale in upraised left, opposite him a female wearing sakkos and long belted peplos holds wreath, she wears stephane, earring, necklace and bracelets, olive branch, vine leaves and rosettes in the field, between the handle and spout a naked youth reclining on drapery holds phiale in raised right hand and tambourine in left, added white detail, (intact, fine condition)
