Lot Essay

The combined tea-table and 'rising sideboard table' is supported by an octagonal column, rising from a hollow-sided altar pedestal, such as features in a table pattern issued in P. Nicholson's Practical Cabinet-Maker, Upholsterer and Complete Decorator of 1826.
