Rectangular brass back plate with enamel roundels in each corner depicting thistles above and bleeding hearts below, central raised hammered spiny shield with three outswept branches to suspend the light fittings

Lot Essay

Although on first inspection this wall fitting would appear to be by a different hand to those in the following two lots, closer examination shows similarities in the two designs - for example the webbed silvered motif at the feet of the figure in Lot 17 echoes the central motif on the wall plaque and the brackets from which the light fittings hang are formed from similar spiny leaf-forms on all three pieces.
