A French steel-hilted small-sword
circa 1760
With tapering blade of hollow-ground triangular section, the forte with etched decoration retaining some of its gilding and blued background, the hilt pierced with trails and panels of flowerheads, the decoration on the shell-guards and pommel centred on an oval panel chiselled with a vase, the grip bound with copper wire and ribbon (bottom Turk's head missing), in associated iron-mounted leather scabbard
