A composite cuirassier armour
comprehensively early 17th Century
Of bright steel, studded with iron rivets and with plain turns along the edges, comprising close-helmet with fluted ovoidal two-piece skull, pivoted fall and flat visor of 'Totenkopf' type pierced with radiating slots, single deep neck-plate at front and rear with roped turn at the neck, pauldrons and full arm defences including later fingered gauntlets, cuirass with heavy shot-proof breast-plate with the mark of a proof bullet, culet of five plates held by bolts and wing-nuts, knee-length tassets, the bottoms, including the poleyns, detachable at the twelfth lame (some parts later, surface patinated overall), on velvet-covered wooden dummy mounted on a wooden plinth
